Got home last night and a package was waiting for me. Excellent!

Inside was a Case knife care kit with a nice nylon pouch containing Tuff Glide and a Tuff Cloth and some lint free cloths and metal polish and little sticks with cleaning things on the end and a hard arkansas oil stone. Nice.

Best of all was my new BM 555 mini Grip. This is my first BM knife and, obviously, my first Axis lock knife. I've got to say I'm impressed. Almost Spyderco sharp out of the box and no flaws I can detect. It opens smoothly and easily and, after a put a drop or two of the Tuff Glide on the pivot area the bloody thing almost seemed to open by itself. Pull back the lock stud, give the slightest flick of the wrist and the thing is open. Impressive. Now that I have it in my hand I like the shape of the blade even more than I thought I would. I discovered it sits perfectly in my top shirt pocket. The lock studs seem a little stiff to use but I suspect they will wear in after a bit and it certainly isn't a problem. A nice touch is you can move the clip to the other side for complete ambi configuration, important for a lefty like me. I think I'm going to like this knife a lot and I've got a strong feeling this might not be my last Benchmade!

Glad to see you put a benchmade in your ever growing collection of sharp objects. The axis lock is a nifty locking mechanism, its been debated on numerous occasions, but IMHO, very clever and effective. As a lefty, Im sure you appreciate it even more.
The mini grip is such a good intro to benchmade knives, solid, sturdy well designed and great value for money. I couldn't be happier with my mini ritter grip that arrived last week. It has found its way into my pocket every day since it arrived. BM's haven't been as contagious for me as Spydies, but the collection is growing subtly.
Onya mate.
BTW, Why do I always check my grammar when I post to you ????

As long as you've started down the Slippery Slope to Benchmade, Cabella's has the 550 in D2. Its my favorite EDC. I put a less than 30 as the seconday and a little under 40 as a primary bevel on it and it seems to stay sharp a long time.

Where exactly is "OZ" (other than where Dorothy and Toto touched down)?
