sharp tips

I received an Urban LW today. Love my Cats, love my Slipits. This is the best of both worlds.

The blade has the sharpest tip of any Spyderco I've bought, other than my Spy-DK. Hmmm, both are N690Co, both sre made in Mangiano, Italy. Three theories come to mind:

1) N690Co makes for a sharp point,
2) The Mangiago plant just happens to put sharp points on their knives,
3) I'm imagining things/ crazy.

Which is it?

I don't really know but my orange g10 urban has a pretty sharp point as well.

Spyderco knows how to sharpen blades to get a sharp point, and I like a sharp point. My 154 Manix 2 gets used a lot to cut up and break down boxes. In the process of cutting the tape to flatten boxes the tip gets used a lot and wears down pretty quickly. I can resharpen the blade and it still works well even without its really sharp original point. So depending on your use the factory sharp point might not last long.

I like my tips after they've been sharpened a few times and that super pointed tip goes away before I break it off.
The semi-rounded tip works great for me doing specific tasks that require detail like masking and fine paper slicing. Not overly rounded off, when it gets to that extent I take about a minute on a couple of fine stones and reprofile the tip back to a point I can work with.
I rarely need a super fine point to do anything, other than as I mentioned, break it off.
