Ok, I finally got around to reprofiling my Nimravus. I brought the edge angle down as far as I could sharpening freehand on a coarse stone, the polished it up and stropped it. It practically has a zero bevel now, much like a puuko. This fact, combined with the wide, thin, flat ground blade that makes it such a good cutter in the first place, makes it scary sharp. Hair splitting sharp. I just shaved cleanly with it, with no water or cream.

So what's your sharpest knife?

My Benchmade 806D2 is my sharpest folder, and my Cold Steel Tai Pan (AUS-8A) is my sharpest fixed-blade...I can shave paper with either one of those 3 edges.

To keep my knives shaving-sharp, I use a set of round crock sticks (bought from "The Cutlery Shoppe" about 10 years ago) in a "V" set-up (like the Sharpmaker), and finish off with a flat (Gerber) sharpening steel...That "system" seems to work pretty well.
