Recently bought the sharpal 2 side (coarse/fine) diamond stone. Been working on my freehand, and wanted something I didn't need mineral oil for! Although I will still use my crystolon if need be, that thing hogs off metal!

Been using the sharpal a bit (6x2.5 stone) and I did my Griptilian yesterday. The coarse side made short work of reprofiling the edge to 14dps, and after a small microbevel from a ceramic rod it is stupid sharp. The stone has held up well to 20cv, m4, and 8cr13mov (haha!)

I'm really impressed with it. So much so I just ordered the 8 inch version. Well see how it lasts, but I think it will be fine and there is a 3 year warranty if anything goes wrong.

The angle guide is nice as well, but is too small to work with some blades (like my super Freek). Maybe I can make a 14 degree wedge out of wood and put a small magnet in it...

I have the 8x3 stone coming Wednesday. I can see myself transitioning to these stones and my sharpmaker completely. Might sell off my lansky kit and smith's tri hone. Funny the paths we take when learning skills. The lansky was invaluable in teaching me to feel the burr and to cleanly apex and get a somewhat mirror polish. The tri hone is a good system, and inexpensive. These diamonds though, they just work so fast. Taking 20cv and m4 down like nothing. Love it.

I learned how t freehand on that diamond stone , well that and a king 1/6k combo but that 8” stone was my 1st bench stone . The company is awesome to deal with as well, they reached out to me cause i had an issue, well thought I had an issue with the coarse side wearing out to fast but it was me and my inexperience with diamond stones , that was over a year ago and I still use the stone on my D2 Blade’s and they are great! They are definitely a great company! I have the credit card diamond pocket stones and the diamond rod and ceramic rod , plus there strop is one of my favorites.

Nice to know they have good service! I know the stones have a 3 year warranty, but I don't think I'll need it. I hope not anyway! I really enjoy the stones, they work fast and no mess, aside from the metal dust.

Now I want to go sharpen some knives!
