Any Bernard Cornwell fans out there?

I've become very enamored of his historicly accurite writing style, not to mention the grim and gritty reallity.

Yes, I have the Starbuck Chronicles series. I really enjoy these books, though some say that they're very similar to his other work.

Graphic and overall exciting stuff. Very good and strong characters.

I wish he'd continue the series.

Absolutely. I love his Richard Sharpe series, and some of his other stuff is also excellent. He did a series about a guy searching for the Holy Grail, I can't remember what it was. I think the first was called Harlequin, or something similar. That was quite good too. Which is your favourite Sharpe book, and why?

Cheers, Acolyte?

The guy searching for the grail was in The Archers Tale, Heritic, and there was a third one I can't remember the name of. He's also done some contemporary thriller type of novels, but I guess I'll always be waiting for another Sharpe book.

As to my favorite Sharpe book?

It would have to be any of the ones with his old Sgt. in them as his worst enimy. Obidiah Hakeswell is a great heavy, he just drips with perverted evil. A fireing squad was too good for him, should have been the object for bayonet practice.

I love his "Sharpe's Rifles", his "Warlord Chronicles", his "Grail Quest" series, and the first book of his Alfred the Great series, The Last Kingdom, even though the books are rather hostile to Christianity. I disliked his "Starbuck" series so intensely that I could not finish the first one. He cannot put himself into the mind of a Southerner of that period and shouldn't even try. He just screwed it up, as did Thomas Keneally in Confederates.
