Okay well as the title says I just bought a knife with a 7 inch blade and it has the shape of a kukri. It's like a baby kukri. It chops like a champ sure buttt my problem is that the blade came pretty dull and all i have right now is a coarse whetstone that i am very bad at using. How am i supposed to sharpen this thing? And suggestions on what sort of equipment to get for this?

A file would work, if the steel isn't too hard.
I filed my cold steel kukri with a bastard file and also tried grinding it on my bench grinder.
both worked, the grinder was a little faster though.
The thing had very uneven bevels and they are now very good again.

If you want them sharper, you probably need small/not so wide stones.
Dmt diafolds might do the job too and then you can progress up the grits to a more fine finish than with a file

I used a chain saw file and followed up with a coarse and fine steel. I generally use this on all my bigger cutters and it works well.

The best thing for sharpening large blades is a cheap belt sander and some good belts .... harbour freight do a cheap one similar to this .....

Put some leather backing on the platten and the belts will give you a nice edge .... practise on a cheaper khukri machete first ....
