So let's say you buy an expensive gentlemans knife, like a William Henry. Do people actually carry these around and use them? Do they ever get sharpened? Or are they something just to collect and admire.

If I got one, I would use it lighty for the tasks it was designed for. I like having nice knives, but I don't think they make very good jewlery when they are covered by your pocket.

If I saved up and bought a WH or a Mnandi, I would carry it whenever I wore my "Gettin Some Tonight" shoes, and it would get touched up on a crock stick and strop to keep it lookin just as good as I do. No freehanding or belt sander for the beauties.

it's a tool if not used it's wasted. use it and sharpen that puppy. but i'm weird.

I've got 3 W-H knives so far. One of them is a user, and yes, it gets sharpened.

The William Henrys with zdp blades are great users. I have used mine often at work, and sharpened it many times. I still consider it the single best cutter I've ever had, due to the combination of relatively thin blade and zdp edge.

Once at work I had to cut the shrink wrap off a pallet. Of course, for such a task the 3.25" zdp WH might as well be a magic wand. A co worker was watching in amazement. Most use a chinese-made box cutter for the task, which requires much hacking away. With the WH, it's just one long effortless ziiip.

To each his own, but I cannot understand buying such a performance knife and then never using it. You wouldn't build an amazing house and then never live in it, would you?

Heck yeah I use mine. I have two WH models that have pretty much been my EDC since X-mas(when I got the second one) I use them constantly and sharpen them as often as they need it (not very with the ZDP blades) They do indeed make great users.

I work the crap out of my Mnandi. And then sharpen it off hand.

I don't own safe queens, either they get work or they get gone. This goes for knives, cars, watches, etc. I understand that some people buy thing just to have them and look at them, that's just different strokes for different folks. Do what makes you happy not what makes others happy.

Your Call. I have working knives and knives I keep virgin. Example; I want my SD knife to be pristine.

I have bought many a knife that I said I would never use, but if you don't use and enjoy it, what's the point in having it. I use all of my knives now, and I get much more pleasure from they too.

I have sharpened my Mnandi and William Henries - no probs , elstwise whats the point in having them .
