Just received my 12 inch IGF from MMHW. Very nice knife. I also have a K-19 from MMHW. The IGF although similar in size to the K19 feels much lighter and faster in the hand. The weight of the K19 was the major concern I had on this knife. My question is that the false edge is sharpen which is good for pentration and back cuts and both knives are very sharp,BUT, does this significantly weaken the point?

Let me know you thoughts as I like a good point but am concern that sharpen false edges may weaken the blade and I like very rugged knives.

Of course less material near the tip equals better penetrating abilities equals a weaker tip. I always look for a well-balanced tip. That means that it might have a false edge on it, but the blade should be thick enough to withstand hard use.
There are differences, however. I don´t want a fine tip on a camp knife for example.
A quality steel should not break off as long as it´s not abused, even if the tip is quite pronounced. But generally you just trade strength for penetrating ability.
