Sharpen Scandi with a belly?

Belly on the knife, that is. I just ordered a Bernie Garland Bushcraft Folder. Gorgeous! I wanted a scandi ground folder, since I find it easiest to sharpen in the field on a DC4 or on a wetstone at home. My concern, though, is how much more difficult will the curve on the blade make for me, a novice, to sharpen. Does the curve make it much more difficult to maintain the correct contact with the stone? I find my Enzo Trapper a dream to sharpen, but this looks a bit more tricky. Thanks! William

That's a great looking folder, I bet it cuts like a beast with a belly like that but it really doesn't look like it's at a good angle to sharpen on a flat surface.
Sorry I can't be of any use.

Hmm...I would normally sharpen a recurve with a rod-style sharpener, but with a scandi grind that might be difficult. I'd give that a try anyway, but it's a bad combination in my opinion.

william O, i have a method of sharpening scandi grinds but it would be too long for me to type out. send me an email with your number and i'll give you a call and help you out. i'll even send a few pictures.
