After some anti choil talk I remembered a video where the choil was sharpened and I like the idea. This is the third time trying it.

I won't lie and say it slices paper but I tried to cut through some plastic wrap and instead of getting stuck on the original choil it cut through it. Clearly not perfect but it's an idea/project/mess in progress.

I did consider putting it on the edge of my Tormek wheel but balked at the thought of it just rounding the edge of the wheel. This ended up being worked with a Norton ceramic triangle and it took a while with a few slip of the hand errors but did work.

Not sure I will continue this or not.

becareful ; probably some law against it .
Just call it a " seat belt cutter " and all will be well .
😆

Cool !
Thanks for posting this !

I need to see about doing this to my bel-air. It's my pet peev of that knife, the backside of the blade hooks material be it cardboard or plastic baggies and your stuck. It'd be nice for it to cut its way out instead.

I like the idea. The latest versions of the Peltonen M95 Sissipuukko have a sharpening choil that is making cutting twine and rope frustrating. The earlier versions have no choil and earliest versions not even a ricasso. I might try your approach.
