Hi,

Im sure sharpening a kuk is asked often but i want to ask if anyone uses a Lansky kit (the one with angles) to get a kuk scary sharp. Mine is not very sharp ie for cutting.

Also how do you use the brandisher??

thanks

You can read through prior threads on these topics by:
going to the bottom of the main HI forum page here,
on the far right just under the list of threads
you'll see a slot labeled "Search this Forum:",
type in each of the keyword sets below,
then press the 'Go' button,
You'll get several or many threads for most of these searches.

lansky
sharpmaker
burnishing OR burnish
chakma sharpening
chakmak sharpening
charma sharpen
chakmak sharpen

I don't know of a particular, definitive thread at the moment.

B.C., Have and do use the Lansky stones to sharpen. I use them freehand without the guides as it's hard to line up the guides on the average khuk edge.

B.C., if you're using a Lansky I would suggest using either the highest or second highest setting. Anything lower will make the edge too weak for chopping tasks, plus you'll have to grind on it a LONG time to form a burr. Good luck.
