Thass a joke son.
😂
I have stopped offering but he CAME TO ME . (another boss than the previous one with the mishap)
Wanted to know if I had a whet stone.
I choked . ((((yah about forty of 'em)))) I didn't say that though . After I recovered I said "Sure" .
I took some photos for him so he can see it takes more than one (especially when the edge is like a well used putty knife 😖 )

I used five stones and two passes on a denim strop with Gold carver's stropping medium on it . I could look it up but close enough .

It was already kind of reprofiled / wide bevels as he gave it to me.
I went with that up to Shapton Glass 4,000
Then a micro bevel quite a bit more obtuse so the edge has a hope in hell of surviving opening a package of potato chips before it goes dull.
He thinks he is going to cut up tons of very big corrugated boxes with it .
I said " how sharp do you want it ". He said "sharp enough to cut up boxes ".

I'm going to give him a good folding box knife with an SK2H blade in it .

In the mean time I'm going to take my 10x jeweler's visor so he can have fun whittling hairs on his arm .
about the only fun he is going to have with this poor little thing .

. . . ! oh yah , I almost forgot ! ! ! . . . the tip was bent (not chipped ) bent . I thought : GREAT that's going to make sharpening SO MUCH easier .
Then I had a thought ; I went to my shop , grabbed a big pair of Knipex Wrench Pliers and bent the tip straight . Seemed soft enough I could have bent it back and forth three or four times .
Sigh . . .

Hope the humidity doesn't change and the edge goes dull as a result before I can get it back to him .
(another joke ).

PS : the screw half of the pivot was missing when he handed it to me . . .
😞((((I'm so depressed)))) The dude has serious bucks . . .
I found a half fast slotted screw that threaded in and had to grind it much shorter before I left work .
Think it's worth lock titing it ?🤪😞

Nah . . . I'm happy again . . . cause I don't have to carry this everyday .
Carried my Sage 5 Blue G-10 with blade swapped REX121 blade in it today (among a few others)
Nah I'm pretty happy !

EDIT TO : change "S2" to SK2H
and
PS : I just ordered him an Outdoor Edge BOA Razor Folding Utility Knife . I have one . It is pretty sweet !

I definitely wouldn't give him a razor knife or anything else. He's the (alleged) boss, he could buy a real knife himself. You will be his "sharpener for life" if you continue to enable his wimpiness. My 14 -year-old pimple faced teenager can sharpen his own knives!

I hear yah !
Did I mention he is also co owner of a brewery , a brew pub and a smokehouse restaurant ? I get bucks off on all that .
Across the street from where I work . . .
AND that he regularly brings over baked goods ; his and others .
He is generous . Basically I owe him .
Glad to help him .

As far as sharpening other stuff or future stuff ; I mean they own a restaurant , I've worked for them for five years plus and they have NEVER asked me to sharpen a chef's knife etc even though I offered on day one "if they had a sharpening emergency " ; I have sharpening gear at work.

With all the box knives I have bought / collected that came with packs of blades and all the various aftermarket blade packs I have had to buy to try out various blade alloys and finishes . . .
e.g. I bought SK5 thinking it was better then learned SK2 is better than that . . . I could give him free blades for the rest of my life. I sharpen my box knife blades so they go for ever for my uses . I convex the transition from the flat sides to the bevels . I regularly cut very large double wall and occasionally quadruple wall but much smaller cuts (of late I have taken to using paring type knives for that including the Mora Flex (good knife !)).
