Sharpened Hooking Edge

I'm curious about the significance of sharpening the hooking edge on the RR Spike hawk. Is this primarily for CQB, or does this have other utilitarian purposes?

The sharpened hooking edge has a wide variety of uses. Aside from CQB it can also be used for grabbing logs, clipping limbs, gutting game and a host of other uses.
