If one were to decide that a skinny long pointy was needed for poking, prodding and prying...which one most likely not to snap? Which steel which particular brand/model? M3 bayonet, mark 2, f&s, glock 78, v42, etc?

Fallkniven makes a dandy mine clearing knife in laminated VG-10, which should hold up pretty well to poking, prodding and prying. Not sure how it holds up to explosions.

Out of the knives R reaper185 listed - the glock has one of the lowest hrc ( I think ) - should bend before breaking. I don’t think you’ll have much luck finding the vintage military knives holding up to much abuse compared to modern offerings.

Get a BK2 though. You can actually cut with it. It will stab as well.

^^^ yea, had one of the Glock field knives for a little bit. Not sure about the rest, but the Glock is 1095 at around 55 hrc iirc. Definitely a "bend before it breaks" type knife..

Of those? M3. A matter of shape, not blade steel. It's specifically designed to perform those tasks. Not much for cutting, but it will poke, pry, and "penetrate the target".

I use a large Bahco chisel to pry or surprise surprise a pry bar when working (carpenter). I personally wouldn't pay 200 for the Tops thingy.

So I'd pay 20 dollars for a large chisel over 10 times as much for the Tops if that's your thing.

Hultafors also make very heavy duty chisels for 20-30 which will take lots of abuse and you can obviously hit them with a hammer as you can the Bahco I use. All I'm saying is that for the money the tops certainly isn't the best tool. If you want a cutting/knife edge that can also be easily done.

Rogan also make excellent chisel knives for a quarter of the price.

All 3 of those interchange nicely in same bayonet scabbard...curious which is best combination of stout but sufficiently sharp
