sharpener advice $50.00 ish

I need a sharpener .So I'm looking at the spydie sharp maker, and a few wet stones. What are your thoughts in the 50ish price range.

Coarse DMT and a strop w/compound. Coarse enough to remove damage and fine enough to yield a high degree of sharpness. Also a good point to expand from.

I'd go for the Lansky or Gatco systems (the rod-guided, clamped ones). They have their limitations, but they do a pretty good job. I have never used the DMT Aligner or Magna Guide but understand they are pretty good also. I don't like the Spyderco Sharpmaker because it's almost impossible to reprofile a knife that doesn't match it's angles. It's diamond rods help, but add $40 or so to the price.
