I would like to get a guided sharpener and my workbench is only 24" deep front to back.

Is that enough room to accommodate the guide rod without it hitting the back wall on something like a TSProf K03 or Hapstone R2? Or will I need something like the Hapstone RS with shorter magnetic guide rod?

I use my Hapstone V8 on a 24 inch wide counter. It's the same base and guide rod as the Hapstone R2. You can always angle the machine slightly if you need more room. I find it more comfortable to operate the machine, when it isn't exactly square to the front of the counter.

O.B.

A Hapstone R2 or V8 needs as much as 16 inches from the front of the base to the back wall.
A TSProf Kadet needs as much as 15 inches from the front of the base to the back wall.
A Work Sharp Professional Precision Adjust needs only about 8 inches.

Thanks. Sounds like I should fine with a little room to spare depending on how close I position it to the front of the bench.

I use a K03 on a 24" deep bench and there's plenty of room. The sharpener doesn't have to sit 90 degrees to the bench. You can angle it one way or the other if more room is needed.
