I already own a Spyderco Sharpmaker and a an Edge Pro Apex...

I'm looking for an inexpensive sharpener for my brother for under $35... just wondering what you guys have used and liked at that price point.

I've already ruled out getting stones for him to do it freehand. Thanks for your input!

I guess that rules out the DMT Diafold?

Sorry I dont know many "set angle" sharpeners under 35.

EzeLap diamond sharpeners are great. Use em all the time. Find them at Enco for starting at $5.95 to $8.95 depending on grit

Smiths makes a sharpmaker like sharpener, that is around 35.00. I use it and it works fine.

Can't go wrong with a Lansky Crock Stick sharpener.

Best bang for the buck imo.

just get a old leather belt and strop after sharpening on the rods and you gotch yourself a very sharp knife. :p

The DMT clamp (without stones) and a handful of wet/dry sandpaper of different grits. Besides being cheap and very effective, it's lightweight if he wants to bring it along while camping.

Gatco has a pretty good system similar to the Lansky but with wider stones for around $30 online. I have one and like it a lot for setting angles.

Piece of glass , multiple grits of sandpaper, some green buffing compound and an old leather belt. Should be pretty cheap. Then you can still get them a Mora!

A good angle set sharpener would be a lansky sharpener set. Without the angle a good one would be a norton india stone.

Didnt read the whole post, try lansky ^^
