sharpener

I have too many sharpening systems. I have a sharpmaker and it is good but isnt very good for the tip! It is good for touch up, you cannot easliy repair damage or other problems...nor rebeveling! I use my sharpmaker for my kitchen knives mostly. For folder without a doubt the DMT Diafold Magna-Guide Kits, it is my favorite!!! It is so good for folders I dont even pull out the wicked edge! I can really get the tip back in shape, reprofile and damage. I have a printers loop when I work on blades so it helps me with all my sharpening system. But back to the DMT, the Diamond whetstones are awesome and they last! Easy system to use and very forgiving. For an EDC pocket, I prefer it over my sharpmaker substantially.

A good pocket stone or DMT credit card diamond stone is good for a pocket knife.:D
No system to them, just stick in your pocket and go about your business. Knife needs sharpened or touched up, reach in your pocket and have a go at it. If you don't need to re-sharpen on the fly, then you can get a "system" for $50 up to several hundred dollars to work on them at home in your shop, basement, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, etc.
For that matter, a good coffee cup bottom or something similar or a good smooth rock will work in a pinch for a very small outlay of cash. Bottom line, how much do you want to spend to have a sharp (sharp being sharp enough to do the job at hand) blade? Simple solution or complex depending on who you ask and what they use or would like to use.

Blessings,

Omar

What is a good knife sharpener for edc pocket knives

something like this
p.aspx

that is what I use

Lansky 4-rod turnbox is pretty good if you're looking for something inexpensive.

If you want the best then my vote goes to the wicked edge. Less expensive and close to the same results then I recommend edge pro, if your on a budget look at sharpmaker/lansky.

Here is a demo video of the wicked edge system. It really is a great system IMHO.

With a bit of practice the Lansky system works very well for me. I can put a mirror perfect stupid sharp edge or rebevel any steel.
Doubtless the wicked edge stones will last longer and do it faster and easier, but I've compared edges treaded by both systems and they're both capable of a perfect apex.

The Sharpmaker is tops for touching ups, but hopeless at getting a mirror flat profile.
