Has anyone sharpened a Benchmade 710D2?
I have been looking at the new knife for 2 or 3 weeks, setting on the desk and I want to make it sharp.
I have several sharpeners, I have a Edgepro, and have ordered some 1/2" stones for it, this seems like the best way, but I am open to advise.
The angle seems rather steep, looks like 25*
This is my first post, so should I need to post differently let me know.

Mine was more like 40 degrees inclusive, but we are talking about Benchmade here. The EdgePro works, but for the recurve portion I rolled up a sandpaper/mousepad and used that.

When I had a 710, I just picked an angle, ground away with the 120 grit stone until I raised a burr from from tip to ricasso, and repeated the process with the finer stones and polishing tapes. D2 is slower to grind than 154CM, M2, and CPM-M4, but it's still just steel.

+1

I have a 710 D2 and a 710 M4. Both are fairly easy to sharpen to a "razor blade" edge on the Edge-Pro.

I have both of them re-profiled to 15 degrees per side.

Sharpening recurves is a pain, but the 710D2 is worth it. I use DMT diafold hones which seem to be narrow enough to contact the recurve portion.
