Sharpening a Bulldog Viking

Hi,
I picked up a Bulldog Viking chisel blade and can't get the thing sharp for anything. Worse yet, I think I've screwed up the orginal profile of the blade by trying to sharpen it so many times. Any suggestions on getting this thing sharp again with a sharpmaker without diamond stones?

I have not had the chance to handle a Viking so I am a little confused on the chisel blade (are we talking coping blade here or a chisel grind on the edge where only one side is beveled to the edge?).

Coping blades are relatively easy to sharpen since they have a straight edge with no curves. Just take the time and keep you angle steady. If you want a real fine edge (which I like on small coping blades), think around 15 degrees or even a little less.

In my experience (and I am not a fan of chisel grinds) sharpening a chisel grind amounts to raising a burr to the non-ground edge side of the blade. (Sharpening the ground edge until you raise a wire edge or burr to the opposite non-ground side then very lightly sharpening or stropping the non-ground edge side to get rid of the burr.)
