Sharpening a Chisel grind

Howdy!

Some of you may have read the post I made in General with my CQC-7.
Well I pretty much fixed the edge.
And I got it sharp too.
The EKI website says to "lay the flat side flat on the hone to deburr the edge".

So I did that, and it's sharp now.
But it scratched the flat side quite a bit.

If it tipped it up a little bit, it would have created a micro bevel. Isn't a chisel grind not supposed to have one?

I don't necessarily care, because I'm gonna use it a lot, but I never hear anybody else complain about this.

Am I alone?
Did I do it wrong?
It's too late anyways. And quite frankly it worked other than scratching it.

I don't think you did it wrong - for a 7; a microbevel comes on many other models and deburrinng or breaking the wire edge off takes very little effort ... almost less effort than scratching the finish but, hey, for a user it's all good - especially if you have really sharp knife!

If you want to raise it abit so it doesn't scratch the whole back that is totally fine.

Btw great choice on a knife.
