Sharpening a Chris Reeve Knife (Shadow IV)

I have read that Chris Reeve knives have a convex bevel.

I've read, however, on the Chris Reeve FAQ page that the best way to sharpen a CR knife is to use a stone with an 18° to 20° angle, suggesting that this would be a V edge...

What's the real story? Do CR knives have a convex bevel, or a V bevel?

I would be grateful if someone could help me here. I don't want to screw up the geometry of the blade by sharpening it the wrong way.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Most knives tend to have v-ground bevels because they are usually sharpened on belt sanders and then buffed. The curvature however is so low than it is very difficult to tell apart from flat. You are not ruining a knife with a convex bevel by altering it to a v-grind, especially if the angle nearly matches the curvature which is the case for Reeve. I keep the Sebenza sharp with a multi-bevel v-grind, it doesn't really matter how it was sharpened initially, the angles I use are optimal for me. The angle Reeve suggest is really obtuse, unless you are cutting metals and bone you are likely better off cutting it down, 15 degrees would be a decent place to start.
