In my search for an EDC, I have bought, sold and traded my way through a wide variety of knives in the last 6 months.
Victorinox, CRKT, Gerber, Case, Benchmade, William Henry, Buck, Chris Reeve and Emerson.
All have passed through my hands.
Only one has stuck.
I was prepared to part company with all of them – with the exception of the Emerson.
It is the ideal working man’s EDC.

I found that sharpening is also not a problem – if you use a Lansky type sharpening set.
The secret is to “cut” a new edge compatible to your set.
I used the top hole to cut the new edge.
This will take a bit of time, but once done it takes only a few strokes to tune up the edge again.

Man, I love this knife!
:D

In all seriousness I had a devil of a time getting my CQC sharp as it came from the box the edge was literally rolled over on itself. I used my diamond lansky set and started with an extra coarse. Took a while but I did get the cantle perfect. It is now razor sharp and will shave hair on both sides of the blade. Did the same thing to my Mach1 and Comm. As for the three of them I do like the CQC more than the other two. Not that I don't like the other 2 I just seem to carry the CQC more than either of the other 2. Now if they would only make the same knife in a 4-4.5" blade I would be a happy a camper. Oh yea a nice high flat grind on a dual canteled edge for both sides would be extra nice! Keep'em sharp

hey if ya want a CQC7 w/a 4" blade try a BM 975 i love mine ....and its ALMOST an emerson anyway lol

I sharpen all my knives in the folowing system

Soft arkansas stone
Hard arkansas stone
Surgical black arkansas stone
Translucent arkansas stone

gets rediculously sharp in 5 minutes I mean don't even wanna try to shave with it cause you'll shave off skin sharp. Only problem is this setup costs over 500$ considering my translucent stone was 250$ all stones are 12x2x2inches
