Quick question for you experts out there.
Can you confirm if the correct angle for sharpening the chisel grind on an Emerson CQC7B is 25 degrees?
I've searched the Emerson site and cannot find any info on the angle of the grinds used.
Thanks

You would be better off sharpening that knife on a flat stone. It will give you a more precise angle everytime. If you need to find the angle, use a sharpie/marker and color a part of the bevel. Give it a couple of swipes on your sharpening instrument of choice and see where the marker is getting rubbed off. Adjust your angle/pressure until all the marker comes off in one swipe.

I use a 600 micron diamond stone and get a great edge every time. Once you get a feel for the angle it will stick in your muscle memory.

Do you think if I put something under the Croc Sticks sharpener to increase the angle to 35 degrees, this would work? This is the sharpening system I own and do not really want to have to buy another.

that should work. but first mark the edge with a sharpie so you can verify the angle of the edge by making some passes over the stones.

you may have to try a few angles to get it right.

See post #2 for sharpie trick.

Yes, it will work. I use a 'Turnbox' for touchups, using the 'Sharpie' trick. However, my Sharpie Trick is to attach it to the bottom of the block using elastics and move it till I get the desired angle. ;)

And yes, RD, I know you meant the 'other' Sharpie trick. :)
