Sharpening a CQC7B?

I just bought an Emerson made CQC7B for my primary defense knife and love it. (previously owned a BM Emerson)

Anyways, I want to use it to practice but am scared I won't be able to get it as sharp as it came out of the factory. Out of the box, the thing is scary sharp and I want to keep it that way.

Any suggestions? Take into acount that I am AWFUL (but am willing to learn)at sharpening. Thanks.
