I shouldn't think that radical a recurve would do well on the flats. A set of Lansky 'Crock Sticks' would do the job just fine.

would it be possible to use the serration sharpener for it as i could get into the recurve better than the flat stones?

The re-curve on the spartan doesn't look too drastic. I would use benchstones on 90% of the blade, then use a rod for the last 10%.

I use Spyderco Diamond triangle free-handedly, combined with sharpening steel and cardboard stropping. Works like a charm.
