Hello all, I have a kensai from Busse combat. Infi steel with convex edges (I think) and an 18" blade. How should I sharpen this thing when the time comes? Im looking into getting an edgepro. Someone suggested large crock sticks.

My user AK will see a 1"x30" leather strop (coated of course), and hopefully nothing else...

I know. Thats what I said about my FSH too though. Somehow chopping hardwood put some flat spots and TINY chips in the edge recently, probably from some substrate on the wood. Anyway, Im thinking the same thing, but would feel better with a backup if somthing bigger comes up. What are you loading that strop with?

...What are you loading that strop with?

Lee Valley green stick (Veritas honing compound "chromium oxide admixed with other fine abrasives (0.5 micron particle size)).

I don't see why an edge pro cant be used on an AK... might need to rig some sort of support, or have the wife hold while you cut?

I just got an edgepro from 1sharpknife (recieved today) and she went right to work. First an old 2$ knife, i turned it into a scapel taking it up through all the stones... about 10 minutes. The second try was my once razor sharp CS Scemitar which had become very dull... a few passes with the 220 stone, and then onto the ceramic rod (4 mins total?) and i had a shaving edge that would have taken me 30 minutes on my old 'faithful' oil stones..

Next i rigged a wood block to change the angle to a lower angle,.. and used the pro to remove the 3/4 grind on my SwampRat M6, into a full grind... (only did one side, but she sure cut fast)... then my Warden Tanto project made huge strids in a short time... so far so good IMO

She is much easier to use on full grind blades however, as stabilization on 3/4 grinds takes some practice...
