Sharpening a Merlin?

How do you sharpen the weird shaped blade of the Spyderco Merlin? Just like you would any other blade? I have a standard "V" type sharpener with round ceramic sticks and 2 preset angles which I forget what they are.

Plain edge or serrated? Either way, use only the corners of the stones, not the flats.

Edit: I saw you have rounded stones. No problem. The rounded stones will work fine on a plain edge, but if your blade is serrated, others measures will have to be employed.

do it the sinple way, buy a 204...

both the book and video show you how. Simply put, just keep the edge parallel to the floor.

You should have no problem with the type sharpener you mentioned ( I myself have a Gatco "Tri Seps" "dog bone" and it works just fine ;)) You
have to go easy with a "curved" (i.e. "hawkbill" blade ) taking the edge/serrations either in a "slow long drag" (if PE) along the round stone, or "one serration at a time"
with the same ;) I have a SE Merlin
and this is the way I do my serrations. I've seen similar "hawkbill" knives sharpened in the
fashion I mentioned (regarding PE)

Keep'em SHARP! ;)

AET ;) (ATE on the Spyderco "home"
forum ;))
