Sharpening a Mora Garberg on a Sharpmaker

I have a Mora Garberg that came so-so sharp. It has a micro-bevel. Question; can I just use my Spyderco Sharpmaker as usual? Maybe the 40 degree setting? I have a choice between 30 degrees and 40 degrees. I like the idea of a micro-bevel for strength. Will the Sharpmaker give me what I need? Any tips for someone who has done their Mora this way? Thanks

The sharpmaker should be fine for that.

I would go with the angle that is closest to the angle of the scandi grind unless you want to maximize strength at the expense of some edge retention. The 40deg will obviously be stronger than 30deg.

Eventually you will have to sharpen the scandi grind though, as each time you touch up the micro bevel it will get bigger and eventually become a sabre/secondary bevel.

Thank you, that was well explained. I’ll think I’ll use the 30 degree as the Garberg is a 27 degree inclusive grind (pretty sure).
