I have a Kershaw Storm II. The more I carry and use this knife - the more I like it.

It's time to sharpen it and I've never sharpened a recurve blade before. I'll use my Sharpmaker. Thanks for any help.

Go SLOW; follow the ups and downs of your recurve by moving your wrist; don't use too much pressure; go SLOW; make sure your Sharpmaker hones are clean before using them and clean them if they get too dark and shiny during use; don't use too much pressure; and, most importantly, go SLOW.

Many people say only the corners of the rods must be used on a recurve. I have found it not strictly necessary. You can sharpen the whole length of the blade using only the flats. Doing it this way the recurved section of the blade will make contact with outer edges of the flats.

Probably the best way, not really much more bother, is to use the corners on the concave section with extremely light pressure. When you are through, sharpen the rest of the blade on the flats.

I have always sharpened my recurve blades with the sharpmaker just like any other blade style.
