I am looking at ordering a custom 110 with the BG42 blade and a serrated edge. Is sharpening more difficult or impossible for the inexperienced because of the serration? This will be a daily carry / use knife. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Difficult, maybe.
Impossible, nothig.
You´ll need a set of thin sharpening little "tubes" (they are about the size of a pen "cartridge") to get into the serrations.
Check spyderco.com, they make a nice set.

good luck,
Ricardo

Sharpening serrations with a Spyderco Model 204 Sharpmaker is just as easy as sharpening a plainedge knife. They are a little pricey, but well worth it as they will sharpen anything from potato peelers to nail clippers to axes to straight razors to hawkbills and everything in between. It also comes with an instruction manual and a video.
