sharpening a shallot?

I am considering purchasing a Kershaw shallot, but am a little unsure because of the recurve. A while back I think I read somewhere that the shallot's recurve was very mild and can still be sharpened on a regular bench stone. Is this true?

Thanks in advance

it would be hard to sharpen a shallot on a bench stone unless it had a curve to it. i do mine on a belt sander and finish them off with a paper buffing wheel.

For my Blur I got some wooden dowels that I'm going to glue sandpaper to. Does this sound like it would work?

To remain alliterative, one must use a Sharpmaker to Sharpen a Shallot.

It will be fine for a cheap solution, but I suspect it won't do your tip very well.

You can use the corner of bench stones to sharpen recurves but it will ruin the stone a lil in the corner(as in wear on your stones in just the corners).

Crock sticks or the corners of a Sharpmaker are your best bet for hand-sharpening a Shallot.

You were right. It was cheap, it worked, but it didn't get the tip.

are you getting all the way back to the grind start? thats one problem with using something round. it might not sharpen the full length of the blade
