I bought 2 striders and well one of them needs sharpened, I'm gonna make this post quick as there isn't much to it just a question, strider says they sharpen their knives at 22.5 degrees plus minus a degree at the factory, ok thats fine I found that on the EP using a sharpie for 95% of the blade , my question is do any of you know how much less of an angle the tip is, All the sharpie is gone on 95% of the blade and I have it razor sharp with a dull tip, I know the standard answer is gonna be keep going up till you find the right angle, but if anyone knows usually how much more obtuse the tip is than the rest of the bevel I would greatly appreciate it, I've tried and tried to find the right angle for the tip and I'm getting frustrated so that's why I was gonna ask you guys , CrimsontideShooter Where are you???

Yep they grind those tips nice and thick. Id say the tip on mine was like 30ish and the rest was like 22ish.
Compared to the rest of the blade the tip portion took me forever to get it matched up with the rest of the blade. Like three times as long. But after I got it ground down it turned out great.
Give yourself a pat on the back and keep at it. You should be done sometime tomorrow night. ;)

It's not a different angle its a angle on a curve, that area of the blade is likely where a slip of the hand was made and distorted the bevel. It happens, factory sharpening is not really something you should use as a benchmark anyways.

every strider I have ever seen or heard of has two different angles on them, they make the tip more obtuse than the rest of the blade, oh well full reprofile in progress on z-wear too, I'll be done in a week or 2 maybe..

You got it.

Why a tanto? it makes it easier to do a tip than going around that curve! :D
