sharpening a tanto

Hi, I'll be getting a new knife with a tanto point and while I'm not a total newb at sharpening I want the edge to be perfect (or at least even)

I was thinking of getting the dmt aligner or something but my question is-can a tanto be sharpened with a clamp style system? or what would be the best way?
 
Simple as pie to sharpen on a stone, or even to convex, due to the straight edges. I'm not sure how to do it with a clamp style, that front edge would be pretty hard to reach.
 
The DMT aligner will work fine just remember to do each edge separate.
