The TGLB come with a 60 degree edge right? can I re profile it to a 40 degree edge with the Spyderco Tri-angle Sharpmaker? its the only sharpening system I own. im very new to sharpening, so I could really use some advice. thanks.

No, I wouldn't count on it unless you have about 20 hrs to waste lol. The busse tglb is a large thick blade if I remember correctly, and the sharpmaker is a maintenance tool, not a reprofiling tool . if I were you I would get some 80 grit good quality sandpaper, tape it to a block and reprofile that way, then finish up on the sharpmaker with a microbevel.

Or being your new to sharpening you'd greatly benefit from sending into Josh (razor edge knives)for a reprofile...then afterwards you'd be able to successfully maintain it with your sharp maker.

It took forever even on my edge pro going through the grit progression because the edge on my TLGB was so thick... :thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn:
