Sharpening an uneven bevel

I have this Benchmade 583-1 that came with an uneven bevel on the left side; specifically closest to the handle. I can get the rest of the blade to the sharpness I desire, which my amateur skills can accomplish, but the area closest to the handle never gets paper-cutting sharp. I only have a flat stone, don't even know brand and it is only one sided, but is there a way I can get the bevel to normal? Or should I just send it it to Benchmade/other service to get it fixed?

What kind of stones are you using? Might be the stone's too small.

The stone needs to flat and true, with crisp corners.

You probably need to lap your stone.

The cheapest, fastest way is to use good sand on a flat piece of concrete

First remove the thumstud (or at least tape it up) + tape the handle. Grind mostly at the heel until burr-both-side or edge no longer reflects light. D2 steel is fairly tough so major grind requires patience if using soft abrasives.
