gunfreak, our Walmart has the scotchbrite pads in the same aisle as the drills right across from them. I get the ones with the drill chuck and use it with a cordless 18v. I get the dimples down with the black composite plastic one, and smooth with the reddish fiber one. Then to really get a satin finish I switch over to 800 grit then 1000 grit sandpaper.
I only use the sandpaper to maintain an already thinned out edge. Those FFBM's can be pretty thick. What's yours like to begin with? You need like a 200 grit to really remove steel, and I find the mousepads are too soft under the paper to really remove too much. Read Justabuyer's reprofiling thread to get the brass tacks of this subject. I only use diamond files myself. I have a double-sided one that does most of my sharpening tasks. It really depend a lot on what kind of edge do you want-thin razor, convexed, etc.
