I need to sharpen the plain edge of my BM Leopard Cub. Can anyone tell me the factory angle of the sharpened edge?

Thanks in advance,

Do the magic marker trick: mark the edge before you start sharpening. Don't apply too much force until you're sure you're doing it at the correct angle. And please read Joe Talmadge FAQ on sharpening (just click the Links button), it'll help you a lot.

I have no idea what the factory angle was on mine, but it was too thick. I have reground the edge down to a 17 degree edge and it works great on my Leo. Cub. No chipping or roling at all.

If you don't know the angle the magic marker routine will tell you. I find that a good angle to use on pocket knives is between 17 and 20 degrees. It depends on what you're going to be doing with the knife and the kind of steel the blade is. Hope this helps.

There are only two types of people; those who understand this, and those who think they do.

Benchmade does not use an angle guide when sharpening knives so it could be anywhere depending on the mood of the person doing the sharpening that day. The mentioned magic marker trick made a world of difference for me.
