I just got my lansky sharpener and tying it for the first time. I'm using my spyderco tenacious as my tester and I was wondering what angle I'm suppose to use... Help. Also I'm eventually gonna sharpen my zt 0560 and wondering what the angle is on that one. Thank you!

Approx. 15 deg on the back bevel and 20 deg on the micro. Factory edges vary since most are done on a belt. Find a angle that works well for what ever you cut the most and stick with it.

The 560's blade has thick geometry. If you profile it to 30 degrees inclusive, it will have a very wide edge bevel. I did mine that way. It cuts a lot better, but doesn't look all that good. Plus you have to remove a ton of metal to get it to 30 degrees. The Spyderco will have a lot better blade geometry and you can go to a more acute angle, like 30 degrees. But for the 560, you might want to stick to 40 degrees.

Yea I did my spyderco 30 degrees. Looked at my zt ... Gonna need a diamond stone to get that to 30 degrees LOL
THANKS FOR THE REPLIES!

You could have called the wonderful people at Spyderco and ask them what edge a specific knife ships with. But its also good to get others input on the forum.

Use a sharpie and mark the edge. When you take all the marking off the edge, that's the angle you'll use. Make note of it and you won't have to us a sharpie every time.
