Hello everyone, I've had many knives throughout the years mostly Benchmade's and a few Emerson's a few fixed blades a K Bar tanto and 2 Gerbers an A.F. combat fighter and Lmf 2 and a Leatherman wave. I have always been an exceptionally poor knife sharpener. In the city I lived in forever, I had a Guy who sharpened my knives for $2 and did a great job. I have since moved and have no sharpening man here. I now have a dull Benchmade Presidio, Leatherman Wave serrations and straight edge, and Gerber LMF. I will be getting a Busse Boss Jack soon and it to will eventually be dull. So please let me hear about some techniques, and sharpeners that would work for me (sharpening challenged ) and my knives. I have a wet stone and might as well have a Cinder block. Help me out guys. Thanks.

We have ALL lived a portion of our life as a "sharpening challenged" individual. IF one hires another they remain in that descriptive category.
I, escaped only by purchasing a sharpening system devised and provided by another. It is called the "Wicked Edge System" and its name is a description of what it produces on a knife.
The SharpMaker by Spyderco is a less expensive yet effective way to go. IF you choose to continue to shop out your sharpening needs, I say Richard J. Master of the Paper Wheel (another great way to sharpen) is the way to go.
No matter what, Love of knives and the enjoyment of the Hobby (inc. BF) is what is fun.

Where are you located nosrak? Could teach you to sharpen any of those in about 15 min. Sharpen them in less than 1 min. Can show you better than I can tell you.
If you want to learn let me know. Hope this Helps.

Thanks for the replies. I guess good knife sharpeners aren't cheap. The wicked edge is pretty bad ass but I think the paper wheel is more in my price range especially already having a bench grinder. And John thanks for the offer but I live in St Augustine FL. Its a bit of a drive to Alaska.

nosrak, if woodcraft has the 1" wide wheels get them. they are more stable than the 3/4" wheels for longer blades.
send me an email when you get the wheels and i'll help you get started.

Sounds good Richard, I need to buy my Boss Jack first, But Ill shoot u a email when i do get the paper wheel. Thanks again man.
