Sharpening choil issue

The sharpening choil on my Umnumzaan does not extend past the plunge grind causing the edge near the hilt to flair out and be really thick. Based off of pictures I have seen online, a handful of other Umnumzaans have the same issue.

I am wondering if any of you have ever enlarged the sharpening choil on a CRK. Does that void the warranty?

thanks in advance.

I have not had that problem with any of my CRKs, but don’t own a zaan. I have added or changed the sharpening notch on numerous knives, but I imagine doing that voids the warranty. Have you contacted CRK about it?

Do you know how to do it without ruining the knife?
If you're thinking of modifying it this way and have the ability to do it right, I would say a warranty really should not be a worry.

Ok so one yes and one no so far lol.

I am pretty confident that I will be able to enhance the choil correctly. The only thing is that that portion will no longer have the stone wash finish.

here are a couple of photos
