Is this a good folder and how hard is it to sharpen
since the serations are different then the normal
spyderco serations? Thanks for any info.

The serrations are only half your problem - the recurve is a bear to sharpen as well. glockman99 should have some suggestions.

I'm sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong... but I think CS will NOT sharpen their own serrated knives! If this is true, it's a damn good reason not to buy them.
There is a sharpener made specifically for CS serrations. I think Lansky makes it.
Hope this helps,
Mongo

As stated above the Lansky dogbone sharpener for Cold Steel serration pattern is your best bet. I prefer plainedge myself. Of the serration patterns I like Cold Steels the least because of the difficulty in sharpening them.

Bladed: In my opinion, you would be much better off buying one of the new 2X Voyagers. It has the same giant blade length as the Vaquero, and uses the same handle. The blade shape does not have any recurve (it is more Bowie in shape). You can buy it without any serrations, which means it is very easy to sharpen.

As has already been mentioned, get yourself one of the Lansky sharpeners that are made to sharpen the Cold Steel serrations exclusively. As far as the recurve blade goes, with the Lansky, that won't be a problem, since you sharpen one set of serrations at a time with it.

imho if ya want a big folder get a cammilus cuda maxx, not much more $$ and a lot better knife, imho.

better steel/lock/looks (imho) - the best big folder around (production, anyway)

I agree with SIFU that the Cuda Maxx 5.5 is a much better knife than the CS. However you can buy a CS giant 2X Voyager (with 6" blade) for $70. The Cuda Maxx is twice that amount, so it really depends on your budget.
