So usually with Spyderco knives right out of the box, their edges are 15(30) bezel but with a 20(40) edge, to form a compound edge. This is the type of compound edge you also create with the sharp maker. However, I have a Wicked Edge and want to do my s110v Military in a 10(20) bevel but 15(30) edge. Is that asking for trouble?

I want to have a mirror polish on the bezel but only 600 grit for the edge or so. Currently, the edge of my s110v Millie is already straight 15(30) with no compound edge setup for ease of sharpening.

For all of you that had experience with s110v I would like to know if it's risky getting this thin at the edge, especially if this is more of a utility knife for me. I fully realize s90v is a much different beast and even better all-around steel but I'm not asking about this right now thank you.

It is not clear to me what you are referring to in regard to bezels and edges.

I have measured bevel angles on 15 Spyderco knives using a Gritomatic laser goniometer. None of the knives are Militaries. There are 2 PM2s, 4 Para 3s, a Sliverax, a Canis, a Yojimbo, a couple different Enduras, a Stretch 2XL LW, a Lil Native, a Pacific Salt 2, and a Subway Bowie.

The Subway Bowie has a primary bevel angle of 6 DPS (Degrees Per Side). All the others are 3 DPS.

The secondary bevel angle on the show side ranges from 15 to 28 degrees. On the other side, the secondary bevel angle ranges from 15 to 25 degrees.

None of them have a tertiary bevel or micro bevel that I can detect. The Endura Thin Red Line, Sliverax, and Stretch 2XL LW have convex edges.

Does a Military have a tertiary bevel?

It did initially but I never thought to measure it. It since has been sharpened to 15 per side. However, I was wondering if its s110v blade can be viable with sharpening it to 10 per side. Many people complain about chipping on s110v unlike s90v, so I wonder if I can do something drastic like what I propose.

I think it would probably be a little chippy, but go for it and find out. 😃

What's the worst that will happen? You'll get some chipping and then you go back to 15 dps. You'll end up with a slicier blade as a result of the thinning you did to bring it down to 10 dps.

I have a Manix 2 LW in s110v that has a 3° primary bevel, a 5° secondary bevel, and a 15° edge bevel. Works great.

Sick, I will do the deed then and make a thin thin man of a s110v Millie in fluted Ti and be the baddest cat on the block.
