Im really confused on how to sharpen my bushlore, and i heard that im not supposed to use a sharpening system like a lansky on on of these so what do i do?
I believe its a scandi grind so i tried laying a flat sharpening stone on it and sharpen it that way, but the stone is contacting the area just before the edge and theres only a small amount of contact. What am i doing wrong and how do i sharpen this thing correctly?

I've abandoned stones for very large blades. I use industrial grade sandpaper on top of a sheet of aluminum. I start with 180 for a very dull knife or re-profiling . I step down progressively and finish up with 600 grit. It gives an awesome edge.

Sandpaper on a flat surface or waterstones are about the only truly effective ways to sharpen that stle of grind. Doing it by hand will be different from the way the factory did it so some correction will most likely be needed.
