Sharpening convex

I've heard John (stomper) uses convex edges on his knives. I don't know if they're full convex or what, not famaliar with convex at all. Can someone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of convex, what he uses on his and how to care for the edge?

He uses a convex main grind with a secondary bevel, It is actually a very good combo for the steel he uses. O1 responds very well to diamond hones.

No, if you want it to have a convex bevel then you would have to grind one in. The sharpmaker will work but ceramics do cause a bit of a burring problem with O1.

Burring as bad as 13c26n? Haha, that stuff kills me. I've gotten good at getting the burrs off. As of right now i just have a sharpmaker (an old worn in one at that). I was told he uses convex.

He does but its the main grind that is convex and has a secondary bevel on the edge.

So DMT diamond hones will work well on convex edges? I am new to this and looking for sharpening tools/techniques for my Busse Tankbuster saber convex grind and SAR 8 full convex (if I understand this correctly).

Stones are for V bevels and sandpaper and a semi-soft backing is for convex. (or a belt sander if your brave)
