Hi,

I just received my first kukri from Himalayan Imports and in order to keep it sharp, I'd like to purchase the Work Sharp Knive & tool belt sander.

Is there somebody out there that has experience with this belt grinder ? Can you please also indicate the degree of the convex edge for sharpening ?

Thanks in advance !

Regards,

If youre thinking the sharpening guide dont bother as your kukri is way too thick to fit. I freehand sharpen my kukris with my worksharp and it works great. Just remember they really dont need to be razor sharp to chop effectively.

honestly, I just use the spine of my bm 710 with D2 to sharpen all of my HI knives and then strop them on a leather belt. They come out crazy sharp... o ya the mouse pad and sand paper is great too

Honestly, we don't tend to advocate the usage of powered sharpeners, grinders or belt sanders for sharpening an HI khukuri.
It is too easy to bevel the edge, make it too thin or burn it and void the warranty. Also could affect the HT if overheated.
It is easy enough to learn to put an edge on with stones or using the sandpaper method.

Yeah I do it by hand too. There are a lot of skilled guys out there who can use a power sander, but I ain't one of them. I like to get to know my knife personally by the old stone and strop method.
