Sharpening, de-burring edge(link to video)

Ran across this video a couple of days ago. Knife edge under microscope. Kinda long but interesting. I may just have too much time on my hands. Anyway, fairly early in the video he "de-burrs" the edge by pulling it firmly through a piece of wood. It was pretty amazing (again, to me) the difference this little step made as far as further honing of the edge. I know cause I went home and tried it and the knives I just couldn't seem to get any sharper, well I got'em sharper! Best sharpening tip I've ever had.

A microscope is a fantastic sharpening aid. I'd highly recommend getting at least a 400x digital scope, it really speeds up the learning process when you can see what's going on at the edge.
