i have an edgepro and am able to get satisfactory results. satisfactory, not stellar, as i am still learning the subtlies necessary to be really good. i would like to re bevel many of my more obtuse blades (e.g. Queen D2's) and this is slow with the edgepro. so i bought a DMT x coarse 8 in. diamond stone and "sharpening made easy" by steve bottorff. however this book gives NO information on freehand sharpening of knives, just about how to use various jigs.
so, can someone refer me to a reference (preferably on line), which gives good information on technique, or give a brief description here with pointers for a beginner. i do not want to start incorrectly on this stone as it will remove metal fast and poor technique will do more harm than good.
thanks, roland
