many many thanks for this vid:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1227438-New-sharpening-video!!!
The jig is discussed around 15 minutes into the video. Took about $30 of materials: lumber, stick-on rubber feet, screws, a strip of leather, epoxy, polishing compound, 2 clamps and some belts - a little assembly and I just sharpened 2 dull folders (M4 and Elmax) to high-polish easy-shaving consistent edges in well under 10 minutes! Not as good as his edges yet but I think practice will eventually pay off. It's the length that makes it so easy to keep a consistent angle as you draw the blade. I've been a member here for 16 years, tried every sharpening method except the really expensive guided ones, all without success, but now I can finally sharpen, whee! (I decided to use the leather as the strop - probably not as good as the strop he recommends but it was there so . . . . . . works pretty good!) Bless you Mr. Fletcher!
