Just curious if one sharpening system is better than the other when it comes to sharpening up hawbills. If someone would know whether the lansky with it's clamps or the edgepro without them works better. Thanks for any replies

Because you need to move either the blade or the sharpening medium to keep the edge angle, I would think the Sharpmaker or freehanding with a ceramic rod would be best.

I get routinely get very good results careful use with the 'bill so that I do not put too much pressure on certain parts of the blade over other parts.

I've always used rods to sharpen hawkbills. Crock Sticks or the SharpMaker will work good.

sounds like the sharpmaker would be a good idea, I was looking for something to have a consistent angle, so no screwing up from me. i know your suppose to learn to freehand but I'm not there yet. Thanks for the replies guys
